Services: Website rebuilds for businesses outgrowing WordPress
I rebuild business websites, usually moving them off WordPress to Next.js and Sanity. The result is a fast site your own team keeps up to date in Sanity, without fighting plugins. I'm based at Clockwise in Leith, and I do the work myself from first chat to launch.
When a business outgrows WordPress
WordPress is a good starting point and plenty of sites should stay on it. The trouble starts when the business grows faster than the site: more services, more projects, more people publishing. Simple changes need a developer, plugins pile up, and the structure stops matching how the business works. That's when a rebuild makes more sense than another redesign on the same foundations.
Lead proof: Headland Archaeology
Headland Archaeology is a multi office UK heritage consultancy with its HQ in Edinburgh. Their WordPress site had become hard to keep sharp as the business and its content grew. I rebuilt it on Next.js and Sanity, covering services, projects, careers and news, with a content structure their internal team maintains itself. It's live at headlandarchaeology.com.
Little Bugs, an outdoor nursery, was another WordPress to Sanity move. Golf Sherpa and the Studio SC7 site run on Sanity too.
What a rebuild covers
- A look at the content you publish and how your team works, so the new structure fits.
- Content and URL mapping, with redirects from old addresses so existing search visibility isn't thrown away.
- Content models in Sanity that editors can use without breaking the layout.
- Design and build in Next.js, then launch and handover.
How it works
Book a free 30 minute chat and tell me what isn't working with the current site, or start with the estimator. If a rebuild is the right move, you get a written scope and a fixed quote before work starts. If a smaller fix would do, I'll tell you.

Questions
Should I move my website off WordPress?
Not always. If WordPress still does the job, I'll say so. I still build on it when it fits; Dutch Signs is a WordPress site I designed and built. Moving to Next.js and Sanity makes sense when your team needs to publish more, the plugins have become a burden, or the site has to grow into more than pages.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I rebuild my website?
A careless rebuild can lose ground, which is why URL mapping and redirects are part of the job. I can't promise ranking changes either way, but I plan the move so existing pages aren't simply dropped.
Can my team still update the website after a Next.js and Sanity rebuild?
Yes, that's the point of it. At Headland the internal team maintains the content themselves in Sanity.
How long does a website rebuild take?
It depends on how much content there is and what the new site needs to do. You get a timeline with the fixed quote, before anything starts.
How do I get a price for a website rebuild?
Use the estimator for an indicative planning range, then book a free chat. I send a fixed quote once the scope is agreed.
