Description

Little Bugs needed a website that balanced warmth, trust, and clarity for parents exploring childcare options. The business offers fully outdoor nursery settings in Scottish woodlands, with locations in South Queensferry and Dunfermline, alongside services including early years provision, flexible schooling options, holiday clubs, events, and parent updates.

My role was to design and build a website that presented all of this in a way that felt approachable and easy to navigate, while still giving the brand a more professional and modern digital presence. The challenge was not just to make the site look good, but to make sure parents could quickly understand the ethos, the locations, the offering, and the next steps.

I focused on creating a clean, content-led structure that supported both discovery and trust. That meant shaping the site around the real questions parents would have: what Little Bugs stands for, where it operates, what services are available, how registration works, what fees look like, and how to get in touch.

The final structure brings together brand storytelling with practical information, rather than treating them as separate parts of the experience. A key part of the build was helping communicate the nursery’s distinct outdoor learning model.

The site highlights Little Bugs’ emphasis on child-led, play-based learning, sustainability, risky play, and development through nature, while also giving space to testimonials, founder stories, and location detail to build credibility with parents. From a content and UX perspective, I made sure the site could support different user journeys at once.

Some visitors would be discovering the nursery for the first time, while others would be looking for registration details, events, blog content, or access to the parents area. The result was a website that worked both as a strong first impression and as an everyday information hub for existing families.

The finished site gives Little Bugs a much more joined-up digital presence. It presents the nursery as a clear, credible, and modern brand while still feeling personal and grounded in its ethos.

More importantly, it gives parents an easier route from interest to enquiry by making the content structure far more intuitive and usable.
