Services: MVP development for founders, from someone who has been one

I build MVPs for founders: the smallest real product that tests your idea with real users. I've been the founder myself, having cofounded and built What The Fork and Golf Sherpa from the ground up, so I scope like an owner, not just a supplier. I work from Clockwise in Leith with founders in Edinburgh, Fife and across the UK.

What goes into an MVP

  1. The core journey a user must complete.
  2. The commercial basics, such as sign up, payment or booking, if they're part of what you need to prove.
  3. Enough polish that people take it seriously.
  4. A written list of what waits until after launch.

Built by someone who has been a founder

As cofounder and product owner of What The Fork, I built a restaurant ordering platform from the concept and commercial model through to the platform and roadmap. That role ran from June 2016 to June 2025. I cofounded Golf Sherpa in June 2025 and led product and the build of the website and app; Golf Sherpa was a Scottish EDGE finalist. For a client, HeroCAD, I turned a specialist business idea into a working marketplace as full tech lead and developer.

How it runs

  1. Book a free 30 minute chat, or use the estimator to trim a feature list first.
  2. I write the scope, naming what's in and what's out, and send a fixed quote.
  3. I build it myself with regular updates. I use AI where it gets a first version in front of users sooner, without cutting corners.
  4. I handle the launch. Follow on work is agreed separately.

Questions

What should go into an MVP, and what should wait?

Whatever you need to learn first, and nothing else. I'll help you name the one journey that proves the idea, then park the rest on a list for later.

Do I need a technical cofounder, or can I hire someone to build my MVP?

You can hire someone, as long as they think about the product and not just the code. I sit in the product seat and the build at the same time, which is the part of a technical cofounder most early founders need.

How long does it take to build an MVP?

It depends on the scope. You get a timeline with the fixed quote before anything starts, and the estimator gives you a first view of the features in play.

Will my MVP need rebuilding later?

Parts of it may, and that's normal once you know what users want. I'll be honest about anything I've kept simple on purpose, so there are no surprises later.

How do I get a fixed price for my MVP?

Book a free chat, agree the scope, and I send a fixed quote before any work starts.
